Easy methods of assessing your digestive health …

Gut health has been of prime importance in Ayurveda… Almost all diseases have origin from faulty digestion and metabolism.. This is clearly observed and mentioned in Ayurveda classical text books… so it becomes absolutely necessary to know the signs of proper or impaired gut health and digestion …

1. Feeling hungry after a meal within a ‘normal’ period of time – I have marked normal word specially here because every person has a very different digestion rate… Some people can digest meal very fast while some people take a little more time… So all of us are better judges about ourselves… If any day we feel that we are taking more time to digest the previous meal than we used to take, then it’s time to act on it. So the question which arises here is, what are the clues which suggest that ur food has emptied the stomach ?

– clear belching i.e. when u feel belches without the hint of the last meal.

– when u feel hungry on time…

– when u feel thirsty normally. When your thirst increases, it can be a warning sign again.

– when u don’t feel heavy and uncomfortable for hours after having a meal. But within a couple of hours you feel light at your tummy.

– Feeling sleepy immediately after having food is ok. But feeling lethargic and sleepy after hours of having a meal is definitely not normal..

– clarity of the sense organs with the digestion of meal is another key point to be noted…

2. Observe your bowel everyday – Normal bowels are another great indication of gut health. Any changes with sudden loose motions or constipation can suggest an ongoing disturbance… So, you yourself can judge your every day normal motions and changes with it.

3. Coated tongue – Ayurveda gives great importance to the jihwa pareeksha which is nothing but tongue examination… A white coated tongue is rightly told as a mirror to your gut health condition as well. Decreased digestive power can cause tastelessness and coating.

4. Frequent colic pains in the abdomen with increased flatulence/gas – If you were not having these earlier but lately have developed with these problems … Please do check your digestion status…

Please stay tuned for even refined tips on gut health …

Happy time !!!!
